This is a proof of concept for a gamebook system I'm developing. The goal is to have a quick resolution method for combat and skills that's simple yet interesting.

The Ruby Fist of Helfandro is a short dungeon crawl  that takes about 10-20 minutes to play. You choose a weapon (each of which interact with the rules in a different way), explore the dungeon, fight monsters, dodge traps, and try to earn the coveted ruby at the end.

There is a built-in dice roller but you're more than welcome to use physical dice. You can click things like 'HIT POINTS' and 'PLUCK' to spend those resources, and the UI will track them for you.

Please let me know if you have any feedback. I'm primarily interested in feedback about how the game system feels, but I also welcome feedback about the adventure itself.

Enjoy!

Looks like a good premise, did you get further with the gamebook its applied to?

I've worked on more projects using the system, but not the actual gamebook I initially had in mind. Working Ogre-Time, the other game I have here on itch.io uses the same mechanics but casts you as an ogre instead of an adventurer.

I'm also re-vamping this adventure. It's going to have the same automatic HP tracking that Ogre-Time has, and will have some new content and surprises. That should be coming out in the next few days.

Interesting game. It is like solo TTRPG.
